In this set of reading we had five narratives. I just wanted to talk about one of them though that stood out to me more than the rest.
I really enjoyed reading the narrative by Frederick Douglass. It stood out to me because Frederick talked about how hard it was for him to find the materials to learn to read and write He would have to go up to boys that were in school and trick them into teaching him by challenging them to see who could write better and he would write what he would know and tell them to beat that and he would learn based off what they would put. I think he is a really inspiring writer because he tells what happened in such great detail and he doesn't try to hold back in the writing. I like this because it gives me a really good idea of what the slaves had to go through just to learn to read and write.
This makes me think because they try so hard just to be able to read and write but now days people take advantage of reading and writing Since it is so common now people don't see it as the privilege it is.
